For our last assignment in my master’s program year one, we were asked to convey our thoughts that (a) represents how you bring Passion and Curiosity to your work as an educator (b) shows how you use technologies to instill passion and curiosity in your students. AND (c) illustrates that you are reflecting on MAETy1 using any type of technology.  I wanted to use Powtoon, a site that creates animated presentations, because I hadn’t used it this year and I really thought it looked cool.  Powtoon just didn’t fit what I wanted for the project so I made an infographic.

Anyone can become a teacher.  But the best teachers are teachers that are passionate and are always trying to improve their teaching (show their curiosity.  As a teacher I love standing in the hallway and giving high fives to students when they walk past.  I think curious and passionate teachers are reflective in their practice.    I have had some great lessons and some not so great lessons, passionate and curious teachers take both the good and the bad lessons reflect on them and make them better.

Enrolling to get a Master’s Educational Technology degree shows that not only am I passionate about teaching, but also that I want to improve my teaching.  I want to incorporate more technology into my class to make it more engaging and interactive for my students.  With that being said I wanted to create something that I learned in class as my reflective piece.  In class we had a lot of discussions about important issues in teaching and technology but for me the most important thing I took away from class was the TPACK framework (Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge).  I have always used technology in my classroom, but rarely do I use it to help student comprehension.  I mainly use to to spruce up my presentations.  With learning TPACK I know I have to find ways to not only incorporate technology to help the learning process, but also use it appropriately.
